Outdoor Expo - Sail Yachts and Model Yachts

The House of Ngamathuba Craft Market on Wilderness Common will be hosting an Outdoor Expo on Saturday November 21st. In this final event prior to the holiday season the organisers have chosen to showcase the myriad of outdoor activities available in the Garden Route.

Thanks to the cooperation of SANParks, the exhibits will be displayed both on the Common and using part of Wilderness lagoon. Apart from the array of crafts and food on offer as usual, the Expo will include static displays of yachts in full sail from George Lakes Yacht Club, a steam powered river cruiser and caravans. Demonstrations during the day will include paragliding, croquet demonstration and training by the Wilderness Bowling and Croquet Club and a polocrosse demonstration by the Teniqua Polocrosse Club.

Activities on or nearby the lagoon will include canoes for hire, demonstrations of small land yachts and children’s yacht racing from George Lakes Yacht Club. The small land yachts, called ‘Blokarts’ are easy to control and will be available for visitors to experience. Also on the water will be two groups of radio-controlled model yachts which will be competing for honours in inter club competitions.

Organisers Alewijn Dippenaar and Mimi Finestone said that they are looking forward to the day.”We have so many activities available to us in this part of the world. This time we wanted to give the public the opportunity to experience and learn more about some of the out of the ordinary and exciting things to do here on the Garden Route. We hope that visitors to the Expo will use the opportunity to try out something new and, who knows, as a result acquire a new hobby or sport”. For more information contact Naresha at 044 874 5918
